(Shanghai, Sep. 4) On the morning of Sep. 4, Mr. Wu Zhiming, Chairman of CPPCC (Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference) Shanghai Committee, headed a delegation to visit the DeTao CCIC Building in Shanghai. Accompanied by DeTao President Mr. John Xia, Chairman Wu, together with Mr. Gong Xueping, President of SIVA (Shanghai Institute of Visual Art), visited a couple of studios within the Detao Academy.
On the morning of June 17, Mr. Chen Ci, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and Party Secretary of CPC Haikou Municipal Committee, visited DeTao Shanghai Center and was warmly received by DeTao Chairman Mr. George Lee.
From December 16 to 20, DeTao Master of User-Experience Design Professor Aaron Marcus explained to students the vision and practice of user-experience design from the perspectives of visual communication, visual design, applicability and practicality. He exposed students to how inventors realized their visions before the advent of modern technology.
From May 23 to 25, Professor Markus Heinsdorff, DeTao Master of Green Building Design, held a workshop on Green, Hi-Tech, Modern Bamboo Architecture at DeTao Masters Academy. The workshop stirred students’ imagination to the unique fascination of bamboo constructions and diverse green architectures.

On Nov. 5, 2014, the inauguration of CIDA-DeTao Innovation Institute was held at the DeTao CCIC Building in Shanghai.

(Shanghai, Sep. 5) On Sep. 5, Shanghai Design Week 2013 kicked off at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. With the theme Design Inspires Dreams, the event focused on the key topics of Innovation, Openness, and Sustainability. Updates on Shanghai as the City Of Design during 2012 and 2013 plus the design philosophy and perspective of the city were thrown into the spotlight during the 30 events throughout the week.

On the morning of January 18, 2014, DeTao Master of Ecological City Planning and Urban Design — Professor J. Alexander Schmidt delivered a lecture ‘The Learning City - Beauty, Mobility, Health, Economy, and Technology in Harmony’. The lecture took place at Shanghai Library, and was viewed by the local residents who were recently plagued by the city’s haze.
On the evening of March 14, Professor J. Alexander Schmidt, DeTao Master of City Planning and Urban Design, delivered a thought-provoking lecture at Peking University as an installment of the DeTao Lectures Series – Dialogue with Global Innovative Masters. His lecture examined the environmental problems triggered by rapid urbanization, and searched for corresponding solutions.
On June 12 at the Detao Masters Academy, the entire faculty and students of the 2013 SIVA-DeTao Animation Class attended the Signature of Cooperation Press Conference between Professor Scott Ross and DeTao.
On March 28, Professor David Geber, DeTao Master of Cello and Chamber Music, delivered a lecture on the true essence of classical music as an installment of the DeTao Lecture Series – Dialogue with Global Innovative Masters.
